Well, about the day.
well, taufik was 'crowned' the singapore idol today. however, we must not forget sylvester sim who is quite a worthy opponent of Taufik. We must applaud him for that cringe-worthy version of bon jovi's its my life and equally fulsome rendition of 'i dream'. its not everyday that someone can deteriorate to such a low standard. i cant say taufik was THAT captivating but he din make my hairs stand on end in embarassment.
anyway, there was some hints that the slyvester supporters were not THAT confident that 'sly' would win because they compared this competition to the Ruben Vs Clay saying about how sly was a wildcard and bla bla like clay. thinking about it, race did play a role. in that battle ( ruben Vs clay) the minority won. In the Malaysian idol, Dina( a malay) Vs Jaq(an indian) the minority (read: Jaq) won. and now, the malay vs chinese, the malay won. hmm. i do not know what i am driving at so we shall leave this discussion.
anyway, i do believe that sly will prob have a more roaring career than taufik. wad can i say. the boy has physical appeal and he is chinese. comparing the no of chinese people to malay people worldwide, i would say sly has an advantage. and nowadays, the malays are more into western hip hop or hard core rock (usher lah, ,metallica lah, linkin park lah) instead of listening to malay music unlike chinese girls who would swoon at jay chou or hound after S.H.E. so u see, one way for taufik is to go (on) is to become like ruben: sounding like a random idiot hiphopper . Or copy wad clay did by going soul. i swear if taufik become a hip hopper or sing something as senseless as " i'm sorry for, two thousand four" i will grab my flip flop and smack him hard on his waxed up hair to render him flat.
BAH!
